    Recipes

    Article summary

Recipes are very similar to Processes.

The difference is that an individual recipe is generated from the process and assigned to the Work Order. This allows for making changes to the recipe on a single Work Order without affecting anything else!

The recipe is also unchangeable after it has been run, which is important for auditing purposes.

Recipes also include Opt In / Opt Out information. If a process allows for Opt In or Opt Out on any nodes, a prompt appears during work order creation to choose whether to include those nodes. In the example below, Recipe #1 opts out of "Inspect," and Recipe #3 opts out of "Shipping."

    Make Recipes during Rework:

If you like, you can use the Process Composer when creating a rework WO to create an entirely new recipe, and then the Generate Recipe From Process menu can make it clear what is selected.

    1. Create rework work order and use process composer to determine process.

    Recipe Specs

If you like, you may add specs and params to the work order from the recipe composer.
This lets you resolve errors in specs and recipes at the same time when using spec-driven processing.

    1. Go to a work order, add a node and choose a spec.
    2. Select child specs to add their processes as well.
    3. Fill out treatment selections.
    4. Choose to add the spec to the part numbers on the work order.
    5. Choose the part numbers you'd like to add and add the spec to them.
    6. Save recipe changes.
    7. View specs for all part numbers you adjusted.

    Operator Instructions on Recipe Nodes

Include special instructions or files (such as a picture of parts or scanned notes) on a Recipe Node by clicking into the Recipe Node from Workboards or the Work Order. There is a dialog box for a Description, along with an "Upload File" button. Those descriptions or files will appear with the other part information in the same Recipe Node.

If you have multiple occurrences of the same Recipe Node, you can check the box to update matching nodes. You can also choose to update the matching Process Node, to carry the Description/File over to future Work Orders with that same part.

NOTE: this cascading feature is not effective with part transfer accounts.
