    Locations are physical places where operators may perform work. Locations allow you to track order progress, activity, inventory, and other information across different physical locations.

    Steelhead offers three basic levels of organization with regard to locations.

    • The Global level includes everything within your company domain
    • The Plant level allows you to create multiple plants or warehouses that are separated but part of the same company
      • This is the level that Location addresses are meant for, though addresses are not required for locations
    • Locations within plants refer to physical locations that are contained inside of the same plant or warehouse. Some examples of locations within a plant might include:
      • Warehouse #2, Aisle A3 Row R7
      • Storage area #4
      • North Garage
    Locations within Locations within Locations...

    It is possible to create as many locations within locations as you like. This is useful for assigning aisles, rows, shelves, or other location information to items. See Creating and Managing Locations

    It is helpful to think of locations as containers within containers. The largest container is the Global location, which contains everything within your domain. Plants and locations within plants are thus smaller containers within the Global location.

    Using locations allows companies to track progress at multiple plants within a single administrative view. It also allows companies to restrict what devices can view so that they are only able to see documents, work in progress, or items that are relevant.
