Assigning Items to Locations

    Assigning Items to Locations

    Article summary

Devices may be assigned a location. The assigned location of a device is the default location for any work-in-progress parts added to Received Orders.

    Inventory Item and Station Locations

Batches of Inventory Items and Stations may be assigned to plants, or locations within a plant. This occurs when receiving a new inventory batch or when creating a new station.

    • New items created will default to the location assigned to the device
    • If more than one location is assigned, the location must be selected
    • Locations may be edited from the item page later on

Part Number Locations on Order Entry

Part Numbers are assigned to the plant location where they are being worked on.

    • The location is only assigned to part numbers while work on them is in progress
    • When adding parts to a Received Order, the plant location assigned to the device will appear as the default location option for the work-in-progress parts
    • The default location of the device will remain the location of the part numbers unless they are manually reassigned

Manually Reassigning Work-In-Progress Part Number Locations

At any time that a work order is in progress, part numbers may be manually assigned a new location.

    • This can be done for any combination of part numbers on the work order
    • This is useful for temporarily storing part numbers that cannot procees to the next process node; when the next process node is ready for the parts, operators will have the location information available on the work order screen

    Documents Do Not Have Locations

Quotes, Received Orders, Work Orders, Packing Slips, Bills of Lading, Invoices, and all other documents all share a global index for numbering. This means that two plants cannot both have a document with the same number.

All documents are visible on all devices, if User Permissions allow view access to them.
