Unpriced Parts Compared to Zero Dollar Parts
There is a key difference between a Sales Order Line Item with no pricing defined and with $0.00 as the line rate.
- Unpriced lines simply mean that the price has not yet been determined, and it will be entered later.
- Line pricing of $0.00 means that the line item is to remain free of charge. The pricing rate could have been waived or might be included in a different line item.
The intended workflow is to only set a rate for the line item if the rate is known. This will create a Sales Order Line with the defined rate. If pricing information is not known, then do not create a Sales Order Line and the Line Item can be priced after the fact.
How to Set Pricing for a Part on a Sales Order
If pricing for parts has not been determined, there will be no sales order lines for parts on the sales order. Here are four different ways to set pricing:
- Manually create a Sales Order Line, add line information then select +/- to assign to a Sales Order Part.
- Select "+ Part To Sales Order" to add a part to the sales order. From here either assign a quote line item, create a quote, or manually create a sales order line.
- Navigate to the invoicing screen and select "Un-Priced Parts". From here all parts without sales order lines/pricing will appear. Margin reports are available here to help with pricing parts.
- Create Quote/Pricing on the Sales Order screen itself. This will give the opportunity to quote all parts on the sales order. From here, the sales order lines will be generated based on quoted information.
