Super Nodes

        Super Nodes

        Article summary

Super Nodes may be used when it is difficult or impossible for operators to step parts through each Process Node.

Super Nodes are specifically designed for use in auto lines or hybrid auto lines, although they can be used for other applications as well. Super Nodes are best used when you do not need to track time spent at individual steps.

In the example below, when parts are moved from "Racking" to "Auto Line Test," the part timer for the "Auto Line Test" station will begin. The timer will continue to run until the parts are stepped forward again and transferred to the "Inspect" node. The parts will not dwell in the "Test 1 Blasting," "Test 2 Painting," or "Test 3 Curing" nodes at all.

To get accurate work order margins, it is important to make sure that Station Rates are set up correctly for super node stations. Because time does not accrue on child nodes of super nodes, all of the costing information comes from the time that the parts spend on the super node itself.

Order Entry for Processes Including Super Nodes

Super Nodes allow for the selection of Treatments on child nodes during order entry. Once a process including a super node is selected, a prompt to choose treatment options will appear on the order entry screen.
