Steelhead Payments
Steelhead Payments are a way to process transactions for invoices created in Steelhead, using payment links embedded in invoice pdfs. For customers utilizing the Customer Portal, they will be able to validate and pay an invoice from a single location. Enable Steelhead Payments in your Domain Settings.
Once payments are enabled you will have the ability to create a Stripe account or link an existing Stripe account to Steelhead.
After you have created or linked an account, you can set the default fee placement as well. Each customer can be individually overridden on their page.
Steelhead Payments have seamless integrations; simply disable or enable Steelhead Payments at any time to return or disable functionality
The way that Stripe connects with Steelhead may be somewhat time-sensitive.
Using Payments
The first big change you will encounter after enabling Steelhead Payments is in invoicing. From here, you will see that invoices can no longer be sent prior to syncing with accounting. This is to ensure that Steelhead Payments and your accounting software do not get out of alignment
After creating, finalizing, and syncing your invoice, you will see an indication that payments are available. You can now send the invoice PDF to your customer.
Steelhead Payments will be automatically enabled for new invoices. For old invoices, you will need to regenerate the PDF first.
- Open invoice
- Click regenerate
- Click confirm
In Invoicing you, will notice a new payments icon. This icon will update payment status for the invoice in real time. After an invoice has been paid, you will be able to view a detailed payment breakdown by clicking the icon.
Your customer, upon viewing the PDF, will be able to click a custom payment link that will direct them to an appropriate payment window (work with our customer support team to integrate payment links in your PDFs).
From here they will have the ability to pay with either credit card or a US bank account, and they will have the ability to opt into one-click payments. Customers utilizing the Customer Portal will also be able to validate the invoice information in the same page.
2% 10 Net 30 and other invoice terms are available out of the gate
After your customer pays the invoice, you will be notified in real time on the invoicing dashboard. Here you can view the time of payment, the current status, and the amount paid.
Clicking on the paid or pending payment icon will display a detailed view of the payment, along with the ability to refund the payment directly.
After an invoice has been paid, you are ready to receive a payout. While the first payout has a 7 day delay, future payouts will happen daily after settlement by default (T + 3). You can also customize your payout schedule.
To view payouts, select the View All Payouts page. From here you will be able to reconcile payments directly to your bank statements.
