Part Number Names are also Inventory Item Names. Part Numbers/Inventory Items may be Purchasable, and may be established with Target Stock Levels, Alert Thresholds, and other characteristics to be managed as Inventory (see related articles to learn about Inventory).
To view the Inventory available for a Part Number, select the hyperlink on the page for that Part Number.
You can view the entire Inventory of Part Numbers by clicking View Part Number Inventory on the Part Numbers Dashboard:
When you click the edit pencil icon to edit one of the Part Number Inventory Items, you can select whether the Part can be purchased, and set a low stock alert threshold, as in a consumable Inventory Item.
Clicking the Part Number Name will bring you to the associated Part Number.
In the Inventory Types Dashboard you can click on Part Number to see all the Part Number Inventory Types.
These can be filtered by whether they are Purchasable, or Cut Stock, or come from Casts or Cuts (These assignments are all editable in the Part Number/Inventory Item creation and editing dialogs).
Links are available to perform Inventory Management tasks:
The Low Inventory page shows data on whether Parts on order exceed the available amount in stock or on order, and the + sign icon starts a Purchase Order for that Item:
Adding Batches
When you fabricate or receive Parts for Inventory, they can be added as a Batch. The +ADD BATCH button appears on the Inventory Item Page.
Enter details as needed. Click SAVE.
Now, the low inventory warning has disappeared because the Alert Threshold number is exceeded.
Batches should not be confused with Part Number Groups. Part Number Groups are organizational groups for similar Part Numbers. Batches are groups of Parts with the same Part Number. A Batch in Steelhead usually corresponds to a container in the shop.
They also should not be confused with Part Groups.
- These are created during a process to group instances of a Part Number together, so they all can be racked and treated at the same time.
- Part Groups are associated only with a specific Work Order and cease to exist when the Work Order is completed.
Batch actions
Various actions can be done with a received Batch:
- Change the quantity.
- Add to a Sales Order.
- Update its Location.
- Attach a Quote.
- Assign to a Part Group, which can run through a process as a singular unit.
- View the QR code for the Parts' Job Tag.
- Edit the Batch.
- Rename.
- Change Part Number (This moves the Batch to that Part Number's Inventory page).
- Archive the Batch, which removes its quantity from that Part's total remaining Inventory.
This setting is editable on the Part Number profile:
To manage this, you will need "Write: Financials" enabled on the User Page:
