Steps to configure Quote formulas
Decide if the custom inputs (with low code calculation) or Price Builder items is right for the Customer.
- Price Builder items are flat price or multiplier rate items that can be manually changed and are connected to the Treatment selections on the Recipe.
- Custom inputs are a configured input that can be added to a Part Number regardless of what Treatments are selected.
Configure all custom inputs and/or Price Builder items.
- This will require you to have the basic process build completed for the customer before you can expect to start quoting.
- If using custom inputs, you may need to add dependencies related to certain information selections.
You can add Custom Fields to Quotes by using Input Schemas.
- Input Schemas allow you to add custom inputs directly to the New Quote form.
- Item Input Schemas allow you to add custom inputs to the Parts table on Quotes.
Adding Custom Fields to the New Quote Form (Input Schemas)
- On the Quotes page, click the Input Schema button at the top of the page. This will take you to the Quotes Input Schema page.
- Click the green "+" box. Choose whether you want to add a single new element to the New Quote form, or an entire new section.
If you create a whole new section, you can add custom elements within the section. This is a good option if you need to add several new, related elements to a form.
- Provide Object and Display Names for the new section or element. Add a description to provide more information, as needed.
- Determine which input type the form element should be.
The options for form element types include Array, Certification Spec Limits, Checkbox, Date/Time, Dropdown (with customizable selections), Integer, Long Answer, Number, Password, Radio, Short Answer, Spreadsheet Input, and Time.
- Click the SAVE! button. The new section and/or form elements will now appear on the New Quotes forms after a customer is selected.
Adding Custom Fields to the Quote Parts Table (Item Input Schemas)
- On the Quotes page, click the Item Input Schema button at the top of the page. This will take you to the Quotes Part Line Item Input Schema page.
- Click the green + (plus sign) box. Choose whether you want to add a single new element to the New Quote form, or an entire new section.
- Provide Object and Display Names for the new section or element. Add a description to provide more information, as needed.
- Determine which input type the form element should be.
- Click the SAVE! button. The new section and/or form elements will now appear on the Parts table of your Quote.
If you’re not using a formula to determine your price tiers, custom inputs are an option.
Steelhead Customer Support can help you create a custom input on Part Numbers which will show tiered pricing of Parts based on quantities. This custom input can accept pricing data that you can enter either proactively or at quoting.
To show tiered price quoting, a fixed number of columns will be made available on Quote PDFs according to your strategy. Columns that are not used will remain empty.
You will then have access to two PDF templates - one to show a tiered price Quote, and one for "standard" Quotes.
There are two ways to save the data:
Option 1: Part Number
The custom inputs can be stored for the Part Number. Once input, they would populate on the Quote each time that Part Number is used. However, if you ever wanted to change them, you would have to go to the Part Number to do it.Option 2: Part Number Quote
The custom input can be unique to the Part Number/Quote combination. These can be entered easily during quoting. However, you would need to write them in each time a Quote is created - they would not save for later use.
Using Quote Templates
To use Quote Templates, do the following:
- On a Part Number that you wish to Quote with price breaks, enter in your price break info in the format [price]/[qty]. For example, if tier 1 is $10 for 5 parts, you would enter 10/5.
- Important - if you don't follow that exact format, including the /, the PDF will not work.
Next, create a Quote for the Part Number. You can see the Part Number custom inputs below the Part Number name on the left side of the Quote screen.
Once the parts have been added to the quote, when creating a PDF you will be prompted to choose the Quote template that you want to use.
- The "regular" template is the one that you've set as a default.
- The "Include Price Breaks" template will include a column for the price breaks.
Once the PDF is generated, the price breaks will appear as they are entered on the Part Number, with a "$" added.
