Set Up of Customer Portal
Here is an in-depth article about how to set up Customer Portals:
Customer Portal Links
If Customer Portal is configured as wanted, provide the Customer with their portal link to give them access to the modules and information granted to them. Customer links are found on individual Customer pages. Click the "GENERATE LINK" button to generate the Customer's portal link. Copy the link and send it to the Customer for them to access the portal. Click the link to see the Customer's view.
Note: To regenerate a link, click the garbage can icon next to the link and then click "GENERATE LINK."
- You can copy the link and email it to your Customer and let them know they can see order status, Invoices, Quotes, Certifications, and Quality Management.
- Just remember - the Quotes, Packing Slips, and Invoices will not show up in the Customer Portal until you send it to them by email in Steelhead.
- When a Packing Slip is emailed to a Customer, they will be notified that it is available for viewing in the Customer Portal.
Configure Default Customer Portal
Found in the Customer tile in the top right corner, "Configure Default Customer Portal" will bring you to a page that will allow you to configure what can be seen by ALL Customers with portal links.
Click the "+ EDIT PERMISSIONS" button to see all permissions that can be enabled and disabled. A red check indicates permission to the feature. No red check indicates no permission to the feature. You must "CONFIRM" your changes. You can also disable a permission through clicking the garbage can on the far right Action column of a permission.
Note: When two permissions are the same except one is plural, the plural permission is referring to the page/tile, the non-plural permission is referring to the individual items. Example: VIEW_WORK_ORDERS = access to the Work Order tile, VIEW_WORK_ORDER = access to information on individual Work Orders.
Configure Customer Portal
Found on the page of individual customers, "Configure Customer Portal" will bring you to a page that will allow you to configure what can be seen by the particular Customer and also allows default overrides.
- If Customer Portal defaults are not configured, you can configure the individual Customer's Portal just like explained above.
- These configurations will only apply to the particular customer.
Default configurations can be overridden. To disable a permission that is not desired to be seen by the particular customer but is enabled as a default, click the arrows under the Action column of a permission and see "Yes" appear under the Cancels Defaults column.
- You can also click the "+ EDIT PERMISSIONS" button and click the box of a permission until you see a minus sign.
To enable a permission that is NOT a configured default, check the box of the permission. It should say "No" in the Cancels Default column. If it says "Yes," the permission is disabled.
- The only reason a customer would have permissions when you go to configure Customer Portal under a specific Customer would be if you have set certain permissions for them.
- Otherwise if it is blank, it means they have the defaulted Customer Portal permissions which is expected.
- To have stages of an order shown, you need to go to "+add stage", choose each tag, name it how you would like it to show up, and confirm.
Extra Configurable Permissions
Here is what each extra permission does:
- VIEW_DEADLINES = access to view deadlines on various items
- VIEW_DESCRIPTIONS = access to view notes and descriptions on various items
- VIEW_FILES = access to view files on various items
- VIEW_PART_GROUPS = access to view part groups of parts on various items
- VIEW_PROGRESS = access to view progress bars within Work Orders

- About Steelhead
When you go to configure default Customer Portal, you should choose "+edit permissions" and check all boxes you want them to be able to view.
Show Multiple:
If the Show Multiple box is checked, the progress bar will show the stage name for each node given the tag. Example: If three nodes are assigned the same tag, the stage name will show up three times in the progress bar. If it is not selected, the stage name will show up only once in the progress bar.
Node Visibility:
To configure node visibility in the Customer Portal, go to the Process node (NOT the Recipe node) that you want to show or hide. On the Process node page, you can uncheck the "Customer Can See Name" box to hide it in the Customer Portal.
Customer Portal Stages
You can set up stages that will appear as a status bar in the Customer Portal, displaying part progress through your shop. Customers can view this by entering into active Work Orders.
Every Customer Portal will display the default stages, but you can configure the stages further by adding more steps into specific Customer Portals.
