Associating Treatments with Stations, Process Nodes, and Inventory

    Article summary

    Connecting Treatments to Stations

Treatments are closely associated with Stations in Steelhead. Because certain Treatments can only be done at specific Stations (e.g. the Treatment "Bake 4 Hours" can only be done in an "Oven" Station), you must connect Station to Treatments.

    To connect Stations to Treatments:

    • Navigate to the Treatments Tile found in the Planning Section of the Steelhead Homepage.

    • Click into the desired Treatment and scroll down to the "Stations" section.

Click + ADD/EDIT STATIONS FOR TREATMENT*.

    • Select the associated Station from the drop-down.

    • Input the default cycle time, total time, and select a time type.

    • These time settings are specific for this Treatment occurring at this specific Station and override any general Treatment settings.

    Click SAVE*.

Adding Stations to Treatment Groups is the exact same process in a Treatment Group Page. You can add numerous Stations here as long as they can handle the Treatment, for example adding all the ovens you have to the "Bake" Treatment Group. These Stations will appear as options when you schedule and move your Parts through your shop.

To connect Treatments directly to specific Stations, see also the "Stations" article.

From a Quote which is in the Draft Stage, you can edit the Part Number to view assigned Treatment times:

    Connecting Treatments to Process Nodes

Treatments/Treatment Groups need to be connected to Process Nodes in order to be included in Recipes derived from a Process. To do this, users can select specific Process Nodes that need associated Treatments and edit the Node to include the Treatment or Treatment Group (e.g. adding the "200 Blast" Treatment to the "Blasting" Process Node).

To add a Treatment/Treatment Group to a Process Node:

    • Click into the Processes Tile found in the Planning section of the Steelhead Homepage.

    • Click into the desired Process, scroll down to the Process Tree section, and click the Process Node that you wish to add a Treatment/Treatment Group.

    • Scroll down past the Process Tree to the Treatment Groups and Treatment Choices sections.

    Inventory Items and Treatments

Treatments are often associated with Inventory Items, for example, the "Black Paint" Treatment and the "Black Paint" Inventory Item. You can tie Inventory Items directly to Treatments and Treatment Groups that will enable you to keep track and deplete your Inventory when you work the Parts in Workboards or Work Orders.

To tie Inventory Items to Treatments:

    • Navigate to the Treatments Tile found in the Planning Section of the Steelhead Homepage.

    • Click into the desired Treatment Page and scroll to the "Inventory Items" section.

Click + ADD/EDIT INVENTORY ITEMS FOR TREATMENTS.

      • Default is "1" if not defined.

    • Add more items as needed.

    Default Treatment Levels

You can set default Treatments directly to Process Nodes and Parent Process Nodes, on Specs, and on Part Numbers.

    • Process Node Default Treatment

A Process Node default Treatment selection is the most direct setting and is the top priority over all other default settings. Use the steps shown in the "Connecting Treatments to Process Nodes" section above to add a default Treatment to a Process Node.

    • Parent Process Nodes Default Treatment

Parent Process Nodes are defined as Nodes that have Child Nodes. For example, the Parent Node "Ready for Powder Coat" has the Treatment "Purple Powder" attached to it. The "Purple Powder" Treatment will be the default for both the "Powder" and "Cure" Nodes, unless they have their own default Treatment configured.

    Screenshot 2025-05-09 at 9.55.04 AM.png

The Parent Process Node default Treatment setting is the second priority if there is no Process Node Treatment. Use the steps shown in the "Connecting Treatments to Process Nodes" section above to add a default Treatment to a Process Node.

    • Spec Level Default Treatment

If a Part Number is going through a Process and there is no default Treatment associated with the specific Process Node or its Parent Node, the next priority is the Spec level.

To add a Spec to a Treatment, see also the "Treatment/Treatment Group Pages" article.

    • Part Number Default Treatment

The last level of priority is the Part Number default Treatment setting. If there are no default Treatments applied to the Process Nodes or associated Specs, the Part Number's default Treatment will be applied to the Work Order.

To learn how to add Specs to Part Numbers, see also the article "Spec Configuration".
