Archiving Data Records

    Archiving Data Records

    Article summary

In Steelhead, to Archive is to remove a data record from active use while preserving historical data. In many modules, records can be Archived by clicking the down arrow file box icon on that record's line:

Archiving a record does not delete it. Instead, it will be preserved (and in many cases, may be unarchived if necessary), but when archived it will not appear in active Dashboards or be available for editing or processing.

    Common Use Cases for Archiving:

    • Removing items from active views while preserving historical data.
    • Handling bad data that should be removed from active use.
    • Managing records that are no longer needed for current operations.
    Packing Slip Creation

Once archived, Packing Slips can not be unarchived. For any necessary correction, a new Packing Slip must be created.

    Archiving or Voiding Invoices

Because of integrations with Accounting software, the archiving or voiding of Invoices requires special care. Invoices may be archived in Steelhead before they are synced. If an Invoice has already been synced, it must be voided in both Steelhead and in your Accounting software separately. See Creating and Voiding Invoices for more information.
